Brian Aris this was a photographer I came across by chance he is holding an exhibition of some of his work titled war zones to red carpet in the local museum at Whitstable, and there was a couple of features about him in the local papers.
Photographs taken from Focus the local magazine.
Brian Aris started taking photographs as a 15 year old at school when his art teacher didn't know what else to suggest he tried and after going into the dark room for the first time he was hooked.
His career has covered many different types of photography at 25 he was covering the troubles in Ireland and he had already had a decade of photography under his belt.
He was the photographer Bob Geldof choose to take the pictures for the Band Aid single in 1984 as he had been out to Ethopia with him, the two were firm friends and he went on to photograph Paula yates on many occasions and also the wedding of Paula Yates to Bob Geldof.
Above are a selection of his photographs the first one is quite hard hitting making people think about how lucky they were to have enough food and water.
The next two are of Jerry Hall and Meryl Streep, I really like both of these images the Jerry Hall one is from a set of four photographs I like the way she is looking directly at the camera.
The Meryl Streep one is the opposite she has her eyes closed and is holding her head with her hands almost as if she is lost in thought.
The final picture is of Paula Yates again this is from a series that were taken on the beach at Seasalter not far from where she lived this is one of my favorite photographs I like the way she looks so relaxed and free from worries.
Having looked at these pictures it has helped refocus me.
