This exercise is split into two parts, both of which are challenging in different ways, the first is to get the proportions right and also the colour and the other is to find images that I like and then to explain how the colour works (or maybe doesn't).
I wanted to try and use natural materials as much as I could but I really wished this assignment was a couple of months later in the year as there would have been a lot more choice around.
The red and green 1:1 This bush has red leaves to start with then they go green as they get older and bigger, this was difficult to get the proportions right but I think I more or less managed it in the end if you look at the red leaves there is more green towards the stem helping to balance the red.
The Blue and orange: 2.1 This was an odd one trying to find something to photograph in the end I settled on an orange brought for the next exercise and part of the blue glazed pot in the garden, not my best shot but I understand the principles.
The violet and yellow: 3;1 this was the most frustrating trying to get the violet not to look blue, I tried all sorts adjusting the f stop to try and get a deeper colour more like the colour I was looking at was just one of the things I tried in the end I did the processing on photoshop which got it more or less correct with maybe a bit more saturation added.
The second part of the exercise is to produce images with two or more colour combinations and its balance.
The first image I think works as the colours seem to blend well together there are two fairly strong colours but with addition of the third alot paler the image is not over powered.
The second image came about when putting the grand childrens toys away I liked the way the yellow and blue were about equal in proportion, these tow colours are only one space away from each other on the colour wheel and then green sits between the two colours almost tying them together and finally the red which is one space away from the blue and yellow on the colour wheel.
The third image a very cold walk along the sea front and I saw these beach huts, again the colours are similar in proportion to image two but I just liked the way the colours blended together.
Image four this is a photograph I took last summer and I came across it whilst looking for something elso, the yellow is very much the stronger colour in the image with a small amount of green adn blue in the image too. I can't really make my mind up about this image if I like it or not , something draws me to it at times although I think the balance is wrong somehow it works.
